Guni-Guni sa Takipsilim

Marahil hindi mo alam
hilig ko ang mag-ukit
ng ngalan mo
sa puno ng lauan
habang ginugunita
ang mga sandaling
ika'y naaaninag
ilang dahon na
ang nalanta
bumitiw
upang makiisa sa lupa
tulad ko lamang
na natitigang
pinahihina ng kalbaryo ng kalungkutan
paano ba ako makasasabay
sa pag-ihip ng hanging
mapanlinlang
gabayan mo ako
tanging hiling sa kalikasan
upang makaahon
kaluluwa kong pinagsumakitan.

The Palette-Hope Analogy

If you choose to believe that you are “a failure in all aspects of your life,” you’ll only come up with a gloomy painting with colors, all dark and dreary. But then there are bright colors in the palette, you see them and wonder how they’d appear on canvas. So you risk and try out those gaudy colors. As you continue daubing, you gradually gain an appreciation of the transformation unfolding right before your eyes. The dark colors are your letdowns while the bright ones are your triumphs. The palette contains hope. If you hold onto the palette and endeavor with its different colors; that is, if you persist despite the obscurities, your faith will see you through.

I Dreamt of Seven Haikus

haiku.I
Minute ice crystals
falling from the firmament
sent forth to wander

haiku.II
Colors multihued
within the heavenly haze
sunny day in May

haiku.III
The horizon stretched
amongst soaring birds
placid lake watches

haiku.IV
Leaf hath fallen dry
kiss the morning dew goodbye
hear autumn’s whisper

haiku.V
Witness it unfold
gradually into being
wondrous creation!

haiku.VI
Rice grain hath fallen
parsimoniously succumbs
marks thee parting of

haiku.VII
Dark clouds chasing thee
in a while shall unburden
cast away its fears

My Trivial Pursuit

As I was waiting to board the elevator (i.e., going up my brother’s unit), I looked intently at the LCD provided for at the ground floor. A music video is featured and at the bottommost part of the screen, bits of information kept flashing. One read: By raising your legs slowly and lying on your back, you can't sink in quicksand. Divinity of a Dream

Its fragrance lingers

In a warm mist.

Covering the endless rosebuds

As it found its way

To the heavenly stardust.

Turn as it may

To stretch the moonlight’s

Shadow spin in circles.

Rapid movements have gone

Far into the abyss.

Mellow in the evening,

Like the whisper of a gentle breeze

On a warm December morning.

To feel your touch,

Such is the embrace of humanity.

Slowly it shall dissipate.

Gone forever,

Memories long forgotten.
